Replanting the West Rain Garden

The West Rain Garden was replanted on Saturday, May 17, 2008.  This rain garden is over 220 feet long and 15 feet wide.  It is the largest in the area.  Over 500 plants were placed in the garden.

Local residents along with the Carter Lake Parks and Recreation Department will continue to maintain this garden.  We plan to dedicate the Garden on Saturday, June28, during the Carter Lake Community Day celebration.

To find the garden site:  Drive to the north end of North 9th Street in Carter Lake.  Park on North 9th Street and walk towards the lake.   When you see the large ditch along the sidewalk, you have found the garden!

Funding for the gardens came from the following generous benefactors:

·      City of Carter Lake

·      Iowa West Foundation

·      Mutual of Omaha

·      Jeanne and Mark Eibes

·      Bob and Judy Petersen

·      Planting Time Always Garden Club

·      Barbara Bennett
